Together, we are building stronger communities by getting students and colleges the resources they need to succeed and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. Join us as we continue this important work to uphold the value of community colleges in building a brighter future.

What You’ll Do

The Foundation for California Community Colleges is a group of relentless optimists and innovators in education, working collaboratively with public and private partners to improve the student experience and expand pathways to economic and social mobility in communities across California. The LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network is a member of the Collaborative Impact team of the Foundation for California Community Colleges and supports meaningful connections between students and employers in California through work-based learning and support services. Our role is to support efforts to bring relevancy and real-world experience to students in California through growing the quantity and quality of work-based learning, with an emphasis on registered apprenticeship, but also includes job shadowing, classroom presentations, internships, and other job training opportunities.

The Foundation's Collaborative Impact Department, through the LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network, seeks a Specialist to play a critical role in the department's success by applying deep project management skills and facilitation experience to ensure high-quality design and delivery of specific registered apprenticeship and work-based learning programs.

This position represents an exciting opportunity to help shape and lead program development and technical assistance related activities for initiatives that focus on the expansion of new and innovative pre-apprenticeships and registered apprenticeships as pathways for young people in Los Angeles County and addressing racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in the labor market. The Specialist will provide a wide range of administrative, programmatic, and outreach support working with a local K-12 school district and community colleges, as well as industry employers, government agencies, funders, and more.

  • Serve as LAUNCH’s primary liaison to assigned K-12 district(s), community college district(s), and workforce partners to support the successful implementation and expansion of registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship pathways for high school students
  • Collaborate with district staff to identify CTE pathways that align with registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship opportunities and assist in developing new career pathways that meet regional workforce needs.
  • Coordinate and deliver presentations, workshops, information sessions, career events, employer tours, and other engagement activities promoting work-based learning opportunities.
  • Connect students with appropriate educational, academic, and support resources to promote persistence, retention, and successful completion.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with district administrators, teachers, counselors, community colleges, employers, workforce organizations, and industry partners.

Attributes for Success

  • Demonstrated comfortability with presentations and public speaking.
  • Relevant BA/BS, equivalent work experience, or a combination of both.
  • Minimum of three (3) + years of related work experience in workforce development, apprenticeship/ pre-apprenticeship, or K-12 education, preferred

  • We’re recruiting for mission-driven, passionate, equity-minded individuals with a strong desire to impact and change people’s lives for the better
  • Innovation, creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship are encouraged as employees work to achieve organizational goals
  • FoundationCCC blends the impact of a non-profit, the culture of an entrepreneurial start-up, and the scale of a state agency
  • Team members are hired for their expertise in niche areas across our areas of impact and higher education overall, and for their knowledge of business, philanthropy, technology, communications, and more
  • We are committed to professional development with an emphasis on shared leadership, to ensure growth for employees and the organization overall
